crochet:: stuff on & off the hooks

I’m usually pretty good about finishing what I start and keeping WiPs to a minimum.  Not so much right now. I seem to have let things get out of control through the holidays, and my WiP basket overfloweth…

It’s due in part to an afghan. Yeah, let’s blame it on that.  Alex’s girlfriend requested a chevron blanket and picked some great colors.

In the middle of working on the afghan, sometimes my yarny ADD kicks in and I have Oh squirrel moments.  That results in things like a Minecraft hat for my nephew in Tunisian, some Christmas ornaments, American Girl doll clothes for my niece, a BB-8 hat to commemorate the opening of the new Star Wars movie.

…and those are just the projects I actually finished…I have 4 more in my WiP basket that are not fit to show you yet…and a list of 40+ items that I really want to do next…but I really need to finish this afghan first!!!

crochet:: random stuffage i’ve been making

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen all of these in the past few weeks and I’m so thankful that you follow me over there!  *cough*cough*only 4 people follow me but I love them for it*  I’ve had my ups and downs with Instagram, kind of fits and starts and quits and start-overs…I lost my first account and never really got into it and thought ‘do I really need more social media?’ and then I realized it was all in how you look at it.  If you see Instagram as more of a micro-blogging platform, then you tend to have a little more fun with it.  Or I do anyway, or something, or I dunno what was I saying?

Here are some pretty pictures to look at because I forgot where I was headed with that. We have various doll accessories, baby hats, and a throw-back to my childhood stuffed puppy (whose name is Buffy beeteedubs)

So anyway, I’m liking Instagram lots these days and I’m totally over the whole Facebook thing.  If you ask me, it is nearly worthless already with all the ads and anger and UGH…

 [Insert grumble grumble algorithm bulls**t grumble]

And really, even my Yarnchick page gets only a pitiful 2 views whether I post daily or weekly or ignore it for months, and it just doesn’t generate any fun.  It hardly seems worth it when there are much more pleasant places to be like here, or Ravelry, or Instagram, or Pinterest.  At Instgram the focus is more on the art than the words…and maybe I like that more.  I mean, I can only be self-deprecatingly silly for so long and then I’ve worn out me welcome, right?

Not that I’m going anywhere soon, but my problem is that I’m finding less and less time to blog…how about you?  Do you like micro-blogging platforms?  Why or why not?

not just crochet:: how i spent a fall weekend

Because I am a homeowner, of course I spent much of the weekend fixing stuff. Stuff like cleaning the garage & gluing broken crap & vacuum maintenance.

Because duh, that’s most weekends. Amirite?!

BUT, because I am awesome at being a hermit and never leave my house, I was also able to finish up a few more desirable projects too.

My C~A~L socks are done & entered in the drawing for loads of squishy, pretty yarn…

My ivy has been hung successfully…

it took 2 tries because I am pitiful at measuring sometimes

I got PUPPY TIME!!!

Alex’s girlfriend brought over these 2 for a play-date…PRECIOUS!

Drumroll please…

I finished a spice rack up-cycling friggin masterpiece…

crochet:: meandering through a day off

Labor Day in the USA…

it’s way too hot & muggy to enjoy the outdoors…

a good excuse for me to crochet the day away…

image

I’ve just finished a Husker scarf, almost done with a pair of C~A~L socks, then to complete a plant hanger for the ivy I recently bought…

But first, my lap must be overtaken by a cat…

crochet:: pinafore feedback

Since I’ve gotten such great feedback recently, I’ve just got to share more.

Joanne found pictures of my toddler pinafore, which led her here.

She was gracious and sent me WiP photo 🙂

Nice job Joanne ~ and thank you so very much for sharing.

Thanks for stopping by!

crochet:: i love feedback

The other day I received a lovely email from Kim T.

She had taken one of my projects from way back when, and ran with it.

Check out the AWESOME pug mobile she conjured up!

Pug Mobile #1

Look!  Just look at the adorable little pugs!!

Nice work Kim 🙂 And a special thank you for sharing it with me.

Have a ridiculously amazing day!

crochet:: rainbow granny rug 2.0

So waaaaayyy back when I started this little bloggity adventure many moons ago, I shared my rainbow granny rug. I made it to warm up my pitiful little laundry room.

It was looking pretty rough lately, so I gave it a big ole reboot.

I recycled about 90% of the yarn, added a little more, and reversed the colors.

Viola!

What’s old, is new again.

Happy hooking!

crochet:: tiny yoda pup hat

Hey there, hi there, ho there… I’ve been without wifi for ages. OK, not really ages, but it sure feels that way. And I got a new job, and well, you know…summer…

A friend requested a yoda hat for this little guy.

Not that he really needs any help in the ear department😃

So I sat down to play with some shimmery yoda-esque colored acrylic yarn last night…

For some reason, I can’t con the cats into modeling for me…

I’m giving a whirl with posting from my mobile, just because.  What do you think?

crochet:: i’ll never be a foot model either…

Summertime is for making socks for wintertime.

I’ve been spending my free time on the deck making socks…I am a fascinating human being, no?

These are my go-to pattern:: Bluebird Lace Socks from Lion Brand Yarn’s book Just Socks.

I’m off to go be fascinating…try not to be jealous. HA!
