In the center of my kitchen table, as it has for 20 years, sits a handmade Amish oak lazy susan. Under that, for 20 years, I have required a centerpiece made of some sort or another of fabric. To make it look pretty. Because I said so.
I used to shop at an Amish general store when I lived in Ohio, and they had a furniture store next door. I always oogled over the beautiful tables and rockers and bedroom sets that were way too expensive, but the accessories…I could afford some of those. So entered into my life the lazy susan and the hand quilted centerpieces. Fast forward 20 years and the pretty quilted centerpieces look more like pretty shabby after several hundred washings. Even though I have mad crafting skills ~ I don’t quilt above the level of a 5 year old. I also don’t do doilies. I may be all LittleHouseOnThePrairieMakeItMyselfIBrakeForYarn, but I just don’t do doily.
Using 3 strands of doily cotton together, I whipped up a new centerpiece.
I am the weirdest 40something I know.
But my table is pretty.
Lisa I love the three strands of doily cotton held together! That made your doily the perfect weight for under your large oak lazy Susan. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend. Love and hugs, Tamara

The table is very pretty! lol So is the placemat.
I don’t doily either. And I don’t make knit/crochet table cloths. Its too much work for furniture clothes. I’d rather make clothes for me!.

I think your lazy susan rug is great and I really like the colors you chose. What stitch did you use?

It was super simple, just alternating sc, dc. Then do dc on sc, sc on dc in the next row. Easy peasy😊

You don’t need to say weird like it’s a bad thing, you’re among friends here. Your non-doily doily is awesome 🙂
