My Mother (the ultimate conservationist) thinks that I can take this itty-bitty sapling…
and turn it into a 100 foot tall American Chestnut tree.
Starting in 1904, this breed of tree was inundated with blight and more than 3 BILLION trees died.
Let’s hope I can keep this bad boy alive 😉

I’ve read about the chestnut blight before! Terrible how much forest was lost. Grow, little guy, grow! Where did your mom get the sapling?

She grew it in her mad-scientist plant lab at the zoo. And now she has given me a second one because there is no where to plant it…want me to Fed Ex it to you???
