Let’s start this party off with a DISCLAIMER:: this was not my idea
Although I totally wish is was, these adorable baby sandals are not of my own mind.
I found them through Pinterest. No wait. I didn’t find them, my friend Regan found them and emailed me a link. Then I found more links; I followed them, and I wanted to make them. And then I created these for her beautiful daughter. Say what you will, I am not politically correct. I never freakin’ claimed to be either.
I saw pictures and I got inspired, but I did not count stitches. This is my interpretation.
I want some in my size now.
baby barefoot sandals pattern: a.k.a. Schmeeb Sandals
small amount Vanna’s Glamour yarn in “Platinum”
misc. small amount baby “sport” weight pink yarn (don’t we all have some of this left over from something else?)
“E” hook (f0r all of the platinum yarn)
“F” hook (for the pink flowers)
flowers: make 2 in pink and 2 in platinum
rnd 1 -ch 6, sl st to make ring, ch1, then 15 sc in ring, sl st in 1st sc
rnd 2 – *ch 3, dc 2 tog 2 x’s, ch 3, sl st into next sc*, repeat 5 times to make petals (tie off for pink – move to rnd 3 for platinum)
rnd 3 – sl st into front of sc row and sc a surface round of approx 11 sc to make the center ridgey thingy of the flower, tie off
sandal: make 2 – or the kid will look pretty silly
ring & row 1 – (with platinum) ch 12 for toe ring sl st to make ring, ch 3, dc 3 x’s into ring (4 stitches)
row 1 – ch 3, turn, (inc on each end) dc for total of 6 stitches
row 2 – ch 3, turn, (inc on each end) dc for a total of 8 stitches
row 3, 4, & 5 – ch3, turn, dc 7 for a total of 8 stitches each
at the end of row 5 – ch approx 40 and tie off (strap)
attach to the opposite end of row 5 and ch approx 40, tie off (strap)
layer the flowers and sew or tie on to center of row 3
