food:: homemade hooch & other kitchen alchemy

Martha’s Roadside Vineyard presents mildly aged peach wine, peach mead, & mulberry wine.

~canning:: mushrooms and soup stock~

so easy:: sliced fresh baby bella mushrooms cooked for 5 minutes, then canned for 45 minutes with a 1/4 tsp. sea salt per jelly jar

They were the perfect addition to a spaghetti braid for dinner this week.

~bath salt scrub & soothing oatmeal bath:: recipes found herehere through Pinterest~

oh yeah, the jar lid idea was a Pinterest find as well…

My only suggestion to make the soothing oatmeal bath easier:: blend the oats first and then stir in the rest of the ingredients afterwards if you are using a blender instead of a food processor.

And I can’t forget to share this one.  It must be one of the best links I’ve found yet.  I got rid of my Magic Bullet blender because it was a POS and died within about a year of purchasing.  Did I mention I’m a smoothie addict?

I always have about 15 pre-measured bags of fruit set up in the freezer for quick smoothie breakfasts on the go.

My favorite smoothie recipe is:: mixed frozen fruit (bananas, watermelon, blackberries, peaches, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries – in any combination) and orange juice.  That’s it.  Fill the jar 3/4 of the way with the frozen fruit and fill with enough OJ to blend easily.

Whatever did I do before I had Pinterest?  Ummm, well I found fewer great links to even fewer great ideas and promptly forgot each idea immediately after turning off my computer.

A toast to Pinterest, “May you continue to serve as an auxiliary brain to the memory-impared for many years to come.” 🙂

      1. Hey – if you have an iPhone or iPod – we could try a facetime chat next time I get together with the girls. I’d have to figure out how to make it work first – but you could join us long distance :). The wine just wouldn’t be the same as in person, but I promise lots of laughs!
